Eye Witness…

About three months ago, my husband and I finally sold our 17 acre farm. It’s bitter sweet as we put a lot of blood sweat and tears in that place, but having that many acres to maintain was just too much for two nonprofit CEO’s. Because of this decision, we now live in a 1,100 square ft. condo in the heart of downtown OKC. It’s been quite the adventure, to say the least.

One morning when I woke up, I heard the Holy Spirit say over me that I was going to be an eye witness. Now that was intriguing. An eye witness to what? Three days later, it became very clear.

I was in the parking garage, leaving for a meeting when I saw to my left, two guys looking at the electric bikes on the bike rack. I thought that was very odd, so I gave them the “Amy Stare.” Jared is familiar with this stare quite well.

When the nonresidents saw me, the guys wouldn’t look at me directly, but decided to walk out of the garage, with their heads down, and exit the side door. Before they left, they kept the door cracked open with a small device that was beside the door, so they could come back at a more convenient time.

I immediately went over to the side door and removed the small device keeping the door open and made sure the door closed. I texted Jared and told him what happened. He then texted our neighbor who is on the HOA Board, and told him about the incident. He also remembered there was a big Samsung TV box with the TV inside of it in the storage area, completely in the open, not secured. Jared told our neighbor about that too and was worried it wouldn’t be there unless whoever owned it puts it in a safer place.

Fast forward two weeks later, I was taking the elevator to the first floor, to walk our dog Howard, and saw an invitation to all residents that read, “At 6 on 5.” Pretty creative title if you ask me. It’s a 6pm drinks on the roof party. (5th floor) As I looked closer at the invitation, I noticed handwriting in pen that said, “whoever has my Samsung TV that was in the storage area, put it BACK NOW!” I began to laugh out loud as I was probably an eye witness to something illegal. Something is telling me the former owner will not be seeing his Samsung ever again….

Both in the Old and New Testament, followers of Jesus witnessed many accounts of His miracles, birth, voice, dreams, angels, and His death to name a few. Being an eye witness to many unexplainable, heart-renching, and miraculous events must have been magnificent to be a part of. So much so, those events were written within God’s Holy Word. I praise the Lord for these accounts as it adds to my faith every day.

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2.

Incase you were wondering about the Samsung TV, it was found, our neighbor moved it after hearing about the two guys in the parking garage and placed the TV in a locked area. That lead me to think about the times we have been eye witnesses to something and it changes the way we think and our behavior. We are more aware of the things around us and sensitive to what we just witnessed.

May we stay eye witnesses to the Glory of God and never forget the power behind it. May our faith in God grow deeper in every situation we are in and give us the power to endure until the very end.
